Dr Joe Judge is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and a Cognitive Analytic Therapy Practitioner. He is the Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist for the Treatment & Recovery Service at the State Hospital, the High Security Hospital for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
He is a Non-Executive Director at the Risk Management Authority, the Scottish public body which sets the standard for violence risk assessment and management.
Dr Judge is the Scottish representative to the Complex Mental Health Network of the Association of Clinical Psychologists. He teaches on the Glasgow and Edinburgh University Clinical Psychology Doctoral programmes on working with complex presentations. He has published on risk assessment and management of violence, and sexual violence, in peer reviewed journals and book chapters.
Dr Judge has worked in both forensic and non-forensic mental health services across the different levels of security and in the Scottish Prison Service for nearly 20 years. He has a special interest in applying psychological principles and therapeutic approaches for use with people with complex difficulties and in complex systems.
